"Was any of these statements made by the Home Minister in Singh's presence? Otherwise this is nothing but hearsay," the court said.
'Police officers should be selected on merit and not on the basis of who is close to the political party in power.'
NCP chief Sharad Pawar said his party had anticipated such an action against its leader Malik as he 'speaks openly'.
